Lego Christmas Train 2015 (#40138)
There is a helpful review found online for your reference:
"I review many of the Lego trains and so I wanted to make sure that people understood what this train is. This is a small, sub-mini-figure size train introduced in October of 2015 as a promotional item for customers who bought more than $99 worth of Lego from Lego. The MSRP is 9.99, but the set has not yet been released for retail purchase. It is similar in size to set #40034 and #31015. It is not to be confused with Lego's Duplo or full-size trains.
The train itself is 7 inches long, includes an engine, a tender (or gondola car), and a caboose. It has small, rolling wheels (the kind found on small Lego cars). It will not work on Lego track. It is not motorized. It uses small ball and socket hitches to connect the cars. There are sweets to put in the train, and a Christmas tree with a sign/signal post. "
LEGO Christmas Train 40034 (82 pieces)
This is no the latest Lego Christmas train set. But, it still is the great Christmas gift for kids. The following are product reviews wrote by real buyers:
"This is a cute part of our Lego Christmas collection. My grandchildren enjoy assembling them at Christmas time and we place them next to the children nativity and stable of Precious Moments that we have for them. We even have a Lego angel that has become part of our nativity scene." By HappyAba.
"This set came in a Lego brand plastic bag with the picture of the train on it. Instructions were easy to follow. Train Attaches together securely. Quality pieces you expect from Lego. Just have to keep it out of reach of younger siblings because pieces do fall off but are put back together easily. Overall I give this set a 5 star rating for durability, quality time for assembly, and for the fact that it is an actual rolling train, not just a non-working display piece." By LLRamon.
"Santa visited the kids and gave them each a set of holiday Legos. My youngest son got this one and after some help from his big brother and mom, he was chugging away!" ByMrs.V.

Similarly, it is not the latest Christmas train released by Lego. But yet, it is worth to spend some time to have a look and read some product reviews wrote by owners:
"I purchased this train as a gift for my husband. I did not purchase the 9V motor or tracks that it would require to run. It turns out I did not need to. My husband had purchased the starter set for the new remote control Lego trains for me for Christmas. We were worried that the holiday train would not run on the "non-9V" tracks. We assembled the holiday train anyway thinking we could use it as decoration. We were extremely excited to find that the holiday train fit perfectly onto the "non-9V" track. The magnetic connectors on both sets allowed our new locomotive (remote controlled) to pull our holiday train cars.
We have even disassembled the remote-controlled locomotive and rebuilt it using the holiday train locomotive instructions so that both sets together now look like one big holiday train.
Aside from the condition of the box when the train arrived -- obviously opened and retaped -- the entire set was complete and the train runs great! " By Halley Macriven.
"We just got this Lego Holiday Train, with the 9V power conversion kit, and we are totally in love with it. Our two sons, ages 10 and 7, put it together without much parental help in about 4 hours of Lego-building fun.
In typical Lego fashion, it is very detailed: the gifts that ride in the open car are really cute and fun to assemble. The kids love the mini figures that come with it, and they really love manning the well-designed remote control. We all are impressed with how fast the train can move around the tracks without derailing.
We just ordered another box of straight tracks to better able the train to maneuver around our Christmas tree. We highly recommend the power kit to make this train even more magical. We expect the Lego Holiday Train will be a family tradition for years to come. " By T. Perez.
"I had a lot of fun putting this little gem together even at my ripe old age of 58! It's very durable and lends itself to customizing quite readily. I've added more Lego mini-figs and more gifts to the already abundant supply provided. Just let you imagination run wide! I bought a motor, controller, and track and was delighted with the smooth operation. I collect HO scale trains which I enjoy immensely but this is so much more fun! ENJOY! " By Amazon Customer.
