"My family has been buying Lego Advent Calendar for at least 10 years. Recent editions include mini figures and a few accessories or tools/weapons as a mini-set for one day, it is still fun. My kids especially love the clever modeling using just a few bricks.
Lego in the last few years had released 2 types of advent calendars every year, one is the city and another of a different theme (castle-2008, pirates-2009, kingdoms-2010). This is the first year of Star Wars Advent Calendar and there will probably not be another Star Wars one for another 3-4 years. I'm getting a few sets (at the retail price of $39.99) for my own family and to give away as we have quite a few mini figures fans among our families and friends. This is a good gift because it is not constrained to December or 2011. With my first child, we opened our advent calendar in the middle of summer when he was 3 years old, when he was learning to count and learning delayed gratification. We counted the pieces of Lego every day and the number of "windows" we had opened. And he remembered well that "one window a day" meant exactly that and stopped whining to open all the windows after the first 3 days.
Overall, a good set and highly recommended. Anything Star Wars is marked up so, yes SW Advent is $5 more expensive than the City version. Also SW Advent has 30+ more pieces than the City one. "

"As with the previous Lego Star Wars Advent Calendars, one of the best parts about this one is that it included NINE mini figures (including the EXCLUSIVE Santa Jango Fett figure). In addition to this exclusive figure you get, Young Boba Fett (nice that they kept the family together for the holidays!), Scout Trooper, R5-F7, Rebel Commando, Clone Trooper, Battle Droid, Geonosian Pilot, and FA-4. I'm a big fan and avid collector of Lego Star Wars Mini Figures, so it's great to see so many figures again. And, I think they did a nice mix of original trilogy and prequel (though I always prefer more original trilogy when possible).
You also get some new and nice new ships etc. from both the original trilogy and the prequel. I'm always amazed how they can make some of these ships/items look so good using so few small pieces each. Not always perfect, mind you, but always good enough that you can tell what it's supposed to be (and often much better than that).
Since there were a lot of complaints about the fewer pieces and higher price in last year's, I thought I'd also note that the Lego 2013 Star Wars Advent Calendar increased the number of pieces and decreased the price this year (last year there were 234 pieces and the MSRP was $49.99, this year there are 254 pieces ant the MSRP is $39.99). This is more in line with the first (2011) Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar (which contained 266 pieces and also had an MSRP or $39.99), and feels more reasonable in general, especially when you can sometimes get it on sale for even less than this.
So, whether you collect Lego advent calendars, Lego Star Wars sets, Lego Star Wars mini figures, or some combination of these, I think you'll find something worthwhile about this set. Not to mention they are a blast to open when the holidays finally get here (I've really enjoyed it the past two years, and am glad I'll get to make it three years in a row)."

Count down to a LEGO Friends Christmas this December! Build the holiday story as you follow Mia on a sledding adventure! Spot the wildlife in the forest on the way to her friend Ewa's house. Includes Mia and Ewa mini-doll figures with 24 buildable surprises in a calendar with 24 secret compartments.

"Pop the box open on December 1st and every day you will get to open a door that reveals a "mini-build" for an item to populate the holiday scene. Every year the figures vary, so it's a fun tradition to follow even if you have done these before. Even if you aren't interested in the religious aspect of Advent, the countdown-to-Santa is still fun for the little ones.
The Friends Lego theme is "girly," with doll-like minifugres and a different color palette than what you typically see in basic sets. This calendar has a little deer and cat, pots and pans, and other pretend-play items, in addition to the usual holiday pieces. Don't get all in a twist about gender roles---some little girls like this type of stuff, and others will enjoy regular Lego---it's all fun!"
